Located just 20 minutes by car from the Sapporo city center, Mt. Moiwa is right on locals’ doorsteps. The incredible view during night skiing—one of the best in Japan—clinches its popularity.
There are 10 courses to choose from. The Dynamic Course for intermediate and advanced skier lives up to its name—you’ll feel like you’re diving into Sapporo’s streetscape. Beginners can enjoy the view from a 2.6km trekking-style course and share a wide, gentle course with local kids. All of the courses here are skiing-only, and are designed to be a skier’s paradise.

Mt. Moiwa's ski fields are the perfect destination for those who want a little taste of Japan's legendary ski and snow culture without committing to a full ski holiday. Easy to navigate but with enough challenging slopes for even the more experienced skier, it's an easy and accessible day trip. If you can visit in the evening and try night skiing, I'd recommend it so highly, as watching the ski transform into a sweeping scene of glittering golden lights as the sun started to set was an unforgettable scene.
